In the region, specifically in the jurisdiction the district of Lamas, lettuce cultivation has been promoted for 25 years, using the Great Lakes 659 cultivar, moreover, SENAMHI (2020), through a 50-year evaluation, indicates that in the San Martin region, the average annual maximum and minimum temperatures increased by 0.8 and 1.3° Celsius degrees, decreasing total annual precipitation by 6%. Given this environmental situation, and the emergence of new habitats and ecological niches in the region, it has been proposed to evaluate Great Lakes 659 variety, because of the long time that lettuce cultivation has been promoted, it has been considered convenient to evaluate the agronomic performance of other lettuce varieties. It is possible that the current climate may still have an impact on the genetic potential of Great Lakes 659, or that one or more introduced varieties may increase their agronomic performance. In the present thesis work, four lettuce varieties were evaluated: the control variety Great Lakes 659 and the varieties Black Rose, Waldeman Green and Green Veneranda. The Quilloallpa sector of in the lower part of the San Martin region, located at a negative south latitude of 06º 20' 15", west longitude of 76º 30' 45" and an altitude of 835 meters above sea level. In order to carry out the research work, a (CSBD) was used and three replicates. The best results were obtained from T1 (Great Lake 659) and T4 (Green Veneranda) with 22.70 cm and 21.03 cm plant height, 1.8 cm and 1.73 cm stem diameter. However, the best result in number of leaves per plant was obtained by T4 with 22.63 leaves per plant, statistically superior to T1 with 14.2 leaves per plant; T1 obtained an average plant weight of 99.6 g and an average yield of 24 900.00 kg/ha, giving a cost/benefit ratio of 1.84, which represented a net benefit of S/ 24 191.00.
